Help Us Plant 100 Trees in Miantonomi Park!
Join the Newport Tree Conservancy for a two-day reforestation event as we work together to plant 100 native trees in Miantonomi Park—Newport’s largest forested area.
For more than seven years, NTC, the Newport Public Services Department, and community volunteers have been working to restore the park’s forest. Invasive plants currently cover roughly 80% of the mature forest, crowding out native species and making it difficult for new trees to regenerate naturally.
This two-day planting effort is an important next step. By removing invasive growth and adding a diverse mix of native and climate-resilient trees, we’re helping create a healthier, more resilient forest that provides shade, supports wildlife, improves stormwater management, and benefits Newport for generations to come.
Why Volunteer?
Planting 100 trees is a big job—and we need our community to make it happen! Whether you join us for one day or both, your help will directly contribute to the restoration of this important Newport green space.
